Default Automation Alley

I just learned about a group called automation alley that attempts to bring government, business and education together to make S.E. Michigan a hot spot for high tech business. It seems to be working somewhat. They claim that we are becoming competitive with the silicone valley, and the Boston Tech Mile. This area was listed as one of the better sites for potential high tech business location because we offer a unique workforce, a concentration of good universities with lots of research capabilities, excellent housing and recreational opportunities and one of the best medical care systems anywhere. That is good news for a change. Does nayone know more about Automation alley?

As far as I know, much of Oakland county is in the "Automation Alley" corridor, and has been for quite some time. Auburn Hills, Troy, and Farmington Hills all have high tech business parks. I believe this was implemented quite some time ago by state leaders to attract a "corridor" concentration of high tech firms. Pioneer, Izuzu, Toyota, just to name a few are in the area, along with the "big 3" technology centers and engineering facilities. I consulted for Marriott in Novi several years ago and spent many hours setting up meetings with Japanese engineers that would relocate to the area. I lived in Oakland county, although I'm not aware of any other county being included in automation alley.

Default Automation Alley

I wondered what this meant, we in St. Clair county seem to be part of this automation alley. I had no idea what it was but every time I come into the county there is a sign that says welcome to St. Clair County part of automation alley.
