Good places to park for a Michigan football game?
I'll be heading up to Ann Arbor next weekend for the football game and I was wondering where some good street parking spots were. I was thinking about just finding a residential neighborhood a mile or two from the stadium, but does anyone else have any good recommendations?

I would not suggest the residential areas, as having lived in the area for many years I have seen one to many people have their cars towed. Residents already have to vie for space for their own vehicles, parking is a premium. The first spots to go will be the metered spots downtown, which there are a great deal of them, but it will be gridlock before and after the game so here is my suggestion. There are several very large parking structures, probably the most efficient one for getting back on to I-94 would be the Maynard street structure, which has 6 levels. There are quite a few structures which is your best bet, parking a car anywhere near campus on normal day is impossible enough.

are you into tailgating?
If so park at the Ann Arbor Golf and outing Club. Its costly, $40, but worth it.
Even parking on side streets a mile away will cost you $20

Thanks for the information. I'm pretty bold so I may just see what I can find in a residential area and if nothing appears good, I'll try to find some $5-10 parking elsewhere.

5-10 bucks? Not likely. Not anywhere I've seen near the stadium.
$40 on the golf course is outrageous, but to me it's worth it because it includes a fantastic tailgating experience. If you don't tailgate I wouldn't pay that much, but it is really something to be in the middle of that pre game party.
There are some nice little spots on E. Stadium about a mile from the stadium, but beware of being blocked in. These are mostly $20 spots, and there's still tailgating room with most of them.
For the Wisconsin game I got a hotel room off of State St. down by I-94, and was able to walk to the stadium & back down my choice of State or Main St. It's about a 35-45 minute walk each way.

As an Ann Arborite, I will tell you that it is extremely rude and disrespectful to park your car in a residential area. Many residents also block off their driveways and lots as well. Yes, it is likely you will be towed and those fees are not cheap here.
There are plenty of lots all over the city where you can pay for parking along State St or probably Stadium Blvd-if you can afford to go to the game you can shell out $20 for a parking space; it beats paying impounding costs. Just make sure you get here early to allow yourself extra time.

I know this thread is old, but in case someone else is looking for parking, a good place to park is at the Ann Arbor Church of Christ. It costs only $10 is exactly one mile south of Michigan Stadium, with easy in and out access.
Welcome to the Ann Arbor Church of Christ!
