Farmington Hills is aging. Bloomfield Hills or Novi are better bets.
Oakland County outside of Pontiac, Southfield, and Madison Heights is generally decent.
Warren
north end of the city, or even outside of the city north of 16 mile road

All those areas are really NORTH of the city...why not check SOUTH of Detroit...the Downriver area.
Y'all are all acting like it doesn't even exist. Heck even Detroit media treats it like it doesn't exist.
There are a LOT of cities between Detroit and Toledo.
Or go WEST of Detroit toward Ann Arbor/Ypsi/Milan/Dundee. Liz

Livonia will go downhill as Warren has. It's only a matter of time, unless it is already there. My impression is that Livonia survived better than Warren, but both are home to failed retail developments and other proverbial cracks in the sidewalk.

If you can successfully ignore it, then it really doesn't exist.
Unlike Ann Arbor ... if you ignore Ann Arbor, you're just another ignorant Detroit suburbanite who Chrysler hired despite the receipt of the university degree from the cereal box bought at Farmer Jack.

You may want to search the sex predators site to be sure you're not moving next to some jerk and I would check with the local police department to get crime stats in your intended area. I did not do that when I moved and we now regret that!! You may want to rent a house in case you regret the move; houses are on the market for over a year and are not selling.

For the record, Ann Arbor is in Washtenaw County, not Wayne County. If you're still looking for a nice place to live in SE MI try looking in Saline. It's a nice bedroom like community, with good schools and the Celtic Festival which takes place this weekend (July 13-14). Good luck.

Agreed, Saline would be a great location to raise a family.

Agreed. I hope they don't make the same mistake on the national scale next year. But that's for another thread.

Hi, I recently went to see my childhood home in Warren. Okay, Warren itself was pretty scary, but when I saw my street, Tallman, it looked exactly the same! Sweet little houses on a sweet little street in a sweet little neighborhood! I took so many pictures of the house, finally! Home Sweet Home! I'm so glad I went back. Tallman Street in Warren was a wonderful place to grow up, and it looks like it still is. Well maintained houses and nicely kept yards. Anyway, it was a dream of mine to go back and see the house and it was well worth the trip, over 2000 miles round trip! Thanks for reading this!
