Ugh...It's Official, Winter is here.
I really wouldn't mind it so much if it was as long as people think of it as being. (3 months) But this mid November to mid April stuff needs to stop.
Love the look of snow, other than that, not a fan.

Find a hobby for winter.
I hated winter so much I would celebrate Ground Hog day (how long before winter is over?)
then, I got into snowmobiling... it is such a blast. I meet so many friendly people that I usually have nothing in common with so that is fun as well.
Now I am a little sad when winter is over... but then there is spring time and flowers so that cheers me right up.

I second the kcam213 notion.
I wasn't a huge fan of winter when I was in college and it was just something in between myself and getting to class. Then afterward, same story with work... snow was an annoyance between my house and my job.
Then I got an outdoor winter hobby (A cheap pair of snowshoes in my case) and now I eagerly await big snow.

It's good to have a good outlook, but I hate winter. Just today, 4.5 mile drive to work, 4 accidents all caused by ice. Last year I was nearly killed in an ice related accident, my beloved car was totalled 5 times over. Better than wildfires though, or earthquakes or hurricanes. And yes, 3 months would be one thing but it's far longer than that in MI.

Yea that's what used to get me down in the dumps was the November to April deal, then the teaser days in between followed by cold and snow. Look on the bright side though......................It was 82 here in Phoenix yesterday

Woooohooooooo!!! I LOVE this white stuff!!
Got about 10 inches here? Maybe a foot? Tried out my new large snow scoop I bought at an auction last summer for $5 and it is awesome!! Still haven't got around to getting a snowblower and it's much better then using regular snow shovels!

Some people will call for wells and are surprised we do not drill in the winter. That always amazes me. They will ask why. Because it is cold. We just do any warranty work.

Yeah, those teaser days really getcha!!
The great defenders of MI and it's weather will say that it only lasts 3 mos. Simply not fact.
I tried the whole winter sports thing-skating, tobogganing, skiing, snowmobiling...problem is that I hated being cold. Couldn't even enjoy the beauty of Greenfield Village at Christmas time last year because we happened to choose the coldest night of the year and it wasn't predicted~imagine that.
Yep, it is MI. Gotta love it or leave it. It will be 77 here in the valley today.

With all the marvels of modern technology, you do not need to be cold, ever.
If you are going to be outside, dress appropriately. Get some glove warmers, boot warmers, and if you need it one of those patches that go on your back. Modern thermal underwear is wonderful. I really love pulling on my flannel lined blue jeans, it is something that I look forward to when it starts to get cold. Oh and wear a hat.
You can put a remote starter in your car for about $100. THen you can warm it up before you go outside, so if you are not dressed for the cold, you just dart from door to door and never freeze. If you have children, you can teach them to start the car for you and save $100.
You can enjoy the beauty and fun of snow and not need to freeze.
The difficult times are Novemebr and March when you think that you have become one of the mole people and will never see the sun again.
Bright sunny cold days are wonderful. It is the cloudy wet, muddy part that bugs me.. The rest is great.
