So far , it seems like the Keweenaw is the big winner. Those who voted for some other place , obviously haven't been to the area............ Looking out my window , now , I see the Superior shore here in Marquette, trimmed in white , and , last nite , a full moon....it don't get much better.

I voted for another place, and yes, I have been to the KP. Boy, there's always one person who has to take a fun thread like this too seriously. Unbelievable!

Not sure of the county but I also really like the Frankfort/Elberta area north of Manistee. If I ever move back to the lower peninsula, that is where I wish to go.

Keewenaw County and Marquette County are up near the top.

For scenic cities I have to go with Marquette and Traverse City.

This is not a competition , or a thread to see who 's place is better than someone else's. Passionate about a place you have been , or are living , fine , thats OK. Nothing serious about it , just expressing our thoughts , sometimes , a little too passionate.
A lot of places Here in Michigan , especially in the UP , are scenic beyond average , but , would provide little in the way of lifestyle most of us are accustomed to......... I met a couple a while back , east of here , in the woods that had dropped out , retired , and were living a lifestyle that looked like they had found paradise. Digging deeper , the wife , was miserable , missed the grand kids , felt abandoned , and wanted to move back to southern Illinois. Paradise is where you find it , its not always Scenic beauty.

I'd have to give Marquette County the edge over Keweenaw simply because there's so much sprawly blah development in the southern half for such a small spit of land. It is quite beautiful, though. But, for overall beauty mixed with vibrant qualilty of life, I'd have to edge it toward Marquette.

Either way, Lake Superior's probably one of the most underrated places to live.

I would have to say Keweenaw County.

I have lived on MI most my life and we would have moved up to the Keweenaw or around Marquette if there were jobs.

But...we moved to wonderful and beautiful Alaska!

Yeah, people call the Upper Peninsula Alaska-lite. Basically the same lifestyle, just not as big, remote, or extreme. It was eerie when Palin hit the national scene how easily she could have just as easily been mayor of one of the tiny 9,000 person UP towns - accent and all.
