I think another look at Marquette County is in order. The peninsula Counties seem to be winning , and rightly so , but, because of size , and remoteness , Marquette may be the true winner. The most dramatic areas of the county are off limits to all but those of the manor born. The Huron Mountain Club contains pristine Lakes , forests of old growth trees , and a shoreline that covers the top of the county.
There are many other areas in the County that are not seen often as well , you , just gotta get out of the car......

County - A really tough one, but i'll pick Emmet County. Always been fond of Good Hart and the countryside of Emmet with all its picturesque farms.

City - Charlevoix

My picks are among the places that i've gotten to experience; pure boots on the ground....

Michigan is beautiful. The Upper and lower parts of Michigan have many different beautiful cities throughout. One of my favorites that I go to a few times a year and for me living in the Detroit area it only takes me about 4 to 4.5 hours to drive to is the sleeping bear dunes national lake shore. Great camping, great small lake towns, breweries and wineries, and Traverse City is always nice to visit. During the summer you can catch minor league baseball in Traverse city and that provides a kind of in the woods feel especially at night when you can look up and see the stars over the field, it’s very similar to being at a planetarium. This is a photo of the minor league baseball field in Traverse City.

My wife and I had a fantastic time in TC last weekend! I think our new favorite stop whenever we go there is "Northpoint Brewing Company"...awesome! 3 or 4 times a year is gonna have to be good enough till we move up that way

I'll have to say the two counties that rhyme with each other, Leeleenau and Keewanau, are my favorites. Both surrounded by water and both with nice hills and beautiful views. Keeweanau probably holds the edge because it feels like you are at the end of the world but it's also the hardest to get to (which, obviously, gives you that remote feeling). For a non-lay-on-the-beach kind of guy like me, Superior is awesome with it's rocky shoreline (a plus for the rock hound in me). My wife prefers the sandy shores of Leeleenau. Michigan has some gems for sure!

There are really too many beautiful places in Michigan to narrow it down to just one-the whole state is unique and gorgeous in different ways...however, I guess overall, I'd have to give it to Emmet County-I really love Harbor Springs and Petoskey!

Ive always wanted to see what they are hiding inside that HMC area. Ive heard some of the very best scenery in the state is inside that snob club. If I was in better shape Id hike in from the bush, Ive read that is the only way to sucessfully get by the security there.

There are some regular folks who own property inside the Hurom Mountian Club. I will hitcha ride one of these days when some of them go up. The Security is tight , not only on the main road into the compound.Lots going on up that way these days with the new mine. Lots of locals have deer camps all around the area, and the roads have improved a lot. This summer I will explore so , its been many years since I camped on the Yellow Dog River.
