Default Northern Michigan theme park.

Don't know if any of you people that live down state have heard this or not, but it is in the works for a major theme park in Crawford county. This is not rumor either, as I have heard it direct from county, and township officials. All that remains is the added land needed to start the project. This could be a dynamic boost to the areas cash flow. It has been stated that there would be 2000 seasonal jobs, and 700 full time. From what I have gathered, this park will be on the order of Ceader Point size. Thought I would post this as there may be some good jobs come up in the not so distant future.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but the skeptic in me says that this has "money-loser" written all over it.

Money loser, possibly.Nothing is ever written in concrete. But the location would be right. It is projected to go in right off the 251 exit(I-75) just south of Grayling. It would be central to the I-75 corridor running the length of the state. It would make it closer for people from Wisconsin, and Canada to travel to verses going to Cedar Point. I have nothing to do with this. Just passing on what I have been told.

Default Sutters Point?

They didn't just play 'pin the tail on the mitten'
with this thing. A lot of studies have gone into
determining that this was the best spot.
I have heard a couple of things about it, though
like Tym2, from outside the inner-most circle.
I heard it's going to be a Six Flags/Mainstreet U.S.A
and that after three years it has gotten the green light.
I also heard that Cedar Fair (of Cedar Point fame, who
own Michigan's adventure) are starting to get real
nervous that this thing is going to happen.
Their attendance has been steadily climbing
(to more than 550,000) and if this new park does go,
I've heard they plan to expand more quickly.
Although this sounds a little far fetched to me, I also
heard that the Grayling park is being tailored
after an indoor park in China that is wildly popular.
Ha! - I know that sounds hilarious, but
this accounts for the claim that the new park
will employ 2000 seasonal workers and 700 year round
workers which is nearly twice as many year rounders as
Cedar point.
Bottom line: Who knows, It may never happen, but that's
the talk from someone who at least thinks he knows.

If they pull of whatever it is I hope it goes well.

We had some crazy guy around here claim that he was going to bring in an automotive supplier with 3,000 jobs. He also claimed he was going to get a build a casino/waterpark and hotel complex. The man is a joke. Maybe next year he will convince Toyota to move all their operations to MI.

Default It's True

Word on the street is it just passed approval by the Grayling Board. There WILL be a theme park on 4-mile road. It's slated to open by 2010. I really hope they actually do restore the MDNR ORV/Snowmobile trails that run through that parcel like they say they will.

Glad to hear that it is happening. The area desperatly needs good jobs.

Check out the pictures of the proposal

Follow US 27 North just past Higgins and Houghton Lakes.
Midway down the middle finger of the Mitten.
Nothing personal.
