Anyone have good info on Hartland Schools nowadays, both regular and Special ed?
I went there years ago, but things have changed a lot.
Thanks!

I have heard that the public schools have a very big problem with teen drug abuse, but I guess what schools in this country don't?
I don't know if you already live in Hartland or if your just looking for a home, schools, etc. But I would look into nearby Brighton or Howell. It's not because Hartland is a bad area, but the schools are better in Brighton and there are many, many more things to do in the Brighton area. Hartland really does not have anything to do, you would probably end up just having to commute to Brighton anyway for shopping, attractions, etc.

The only things that have changed is some sprawl around the main roads, otherwise it really has not changed that much in terms of development in stores, etc.
If you are looking at moving to SE Michigan I would look into Brighton as I said before. Or like you mentioned, Ann Arbor and the areas around Ann Arbor are very nice such as Dexter, Chelsea, Saline.
Ann Arbor and its surrounding cities and villages have changed a lot though, if you know that area. Homes and subdivisions exploded in these areas the last decade, it is slowy down though with the housing crisis and all.

The Hartland schools are really very good academically, but the district is a drug pit, almost neck-and-neck with Pinckney, both of them gaining on Whitmore Lake ("Home Of The Preteen Heroin Addict.") It's the usual problem -- kids with too much money, not enough to do and medicine chests stocked with leftover Xanax and Vicodin.

Yuck!
In the old days, marijuana was the bad thing.....or maybe I was blissfully ignorant.
Anyone know about the special ed services?

Hartland is one of the few districts in the county with a sane approach to special ed. Howell, for instance, has something like 75% of its students classed as special ed. And you wonder where all that money goes that we throw into the school systems...

Hi there,, if you are considering moving to Livingston County you should know they qualify for a "Rural Development" mortgage insured by the USDA.
The rate is around 5.50% on a 30 yr fixed.
You could get into a place for less than $1,000 out of pocket. If you need any help with a mortgage contact me!
Good luck with your house hunting. Good you are checking out the schools. Check the sex offender registry too, you can put in an address and make sure there isn't some pervert living next door to the house you want to buy. It's at the michigan state police site.

I would like to say that Hartland has progressed greatly in terms of business and on development. It may not have the shopping stores like Brighton (which is a small five minute commute) but it does have all the basic needs. Walmart, Meijer, gas stations and most of everything else. The schools are great and the drug problem might be bad, but being a student in Hartland and having many friends in Brighton, I know that the difference in the drug problem between Hartland and Brighton is slim to none.

The schools are still pretty decent academically, but the whole district is an appalling drug pit, I'm sorry to say.
