Every summer from July through August they have what's called the "monsoon" season here - thunderstorms (with wind, of course) almost every afternoon. Well the summers aren't hot and dry when it's monsoon season. New Mexico is extraordinarily beautiful with the large forests and wilderness areas.
Fortunately not for everything -- so it remains a pretty unpopulated state with great weather.

Moved out of Warren/Royal Oak MI at the end of 2008 to Houston, TX. I'm back and fourth closing things up but overall we are very happy with the move...
best of luck to you all.

Sure beats the states on both sides of it..... It is nice that overpopulation did not overwhelm the infrastructure like in AZ. There are many people who are proud of their Spanish heritage , and , I don't mean Mexican... A special place in many ways.... Remember , when a popular notion going around was you needed a Visa to live there !. " The land of Enchantment " , is appropriate .

Hope you have a job lined up. The Carolinas are become worse off than Michigan. Sc already has more unemployment than most of the County's in Mi.
If you are a bible stomper , a right wing card carrying member , you may fit in , but , don't count on it. Johnson County is not a great example of non biased political base.

No , not at all. The borders have little restrictions , you are free to leave anytime you want. Especially if you have a tail wind , just put the old Winnebago in neutral , and hang on !

Yeah right. In NM you don't need to make a reservation 3 months in advance to a campground. There is so much open land once you get away from the cities and you're still allowed to set up a tent in some big forest without paying anything.
