Born and raised in the Ludington/Scottville area. Left in 2006 to help family in Maine and cannot wait to get back there in June. Crime? So-so, they have had a rash of break-ins, but just recently caught a couple of guys that have confessed to a huge number of the break-ins the police were investigating as well as recovery of a lot of the items stolen. I have always felt safe in Ludington and the surrounding area. I personally like Scottville a bit better, but that small of a town isn't for everybodys tastes. The area has good schools if you have any kids in school. The crime numbers don't tell the whole story, nor can they tell just how safe you are in a place. Ludington is a VERY safe town, with some very friendly residents.

Hey Bydand,

Do you know anything about the House of Flavors, factory? Are they ok to work for, a bad place? A friend of mine is trying to get me in there,he moved to Ludington a few months ago. The thing is if I move there I need a reasonable apartment or something that allows dogs. As far as crimes the way the econonomy is right now, there is crimes all over the place.

House of Flavors has been around a LONG time and every single person I know that works there, likes it. They seem to be a solid company and from what I know they are very community orientated as well. My Grandparents used to own a house right behind the House of Flavors and the trucks had to use the end of their driveway to get into the loading dock, HoF always maintained their driveway and when my Grandparents got older they kept the entire driveway cleared and sanded. They didn't have to, and there was no agreement in writing, but they were and are a good neighbor.

Crime is almost non-existent in Ludington. There is the usual thefts and maybe a B&E every once in a while, but they are few and far between really. Violent crime is VERY low. I will DM you the name and phone number to a property management place that I used to rent through before we found a house to buy. They have a LOT of places they manage and were always straight up and honest. Anything needed to be fixed or looked at, and they had somebody there ASAP, usually the same day, never longer than the following morning.
