Default Recent college grad moving to Kalamazoo/Portage

Hi!
I'm considering a job opportunity in Portage. I'm looking at apartments in the area, but don't really know where to look. I'm a recent college grad and would like to live in a community with other young professionals.
Thanks!

Stay away from the west side of Kalamazoo - mostly student apartments in those areas. Anywhere in Portage should be fine, as well as the east side of Kazoo on Gull Road. I would recommend Cooper's Landing or Foxwood, either one would be a good choice. Google them and check them out.

I will have to disagree, as yes there is a lot of college kids, but there is plenty of nice places to live among young adults. I'd much rather live there than somewhere on the east side.

Where in Portage is your job?

My husband and I moved here in December. As professional students we wanted to be far away from the college crowd. I don't agree with the comment about staying away from the west side. That is where you want to go. Oshtemo is where we live (in Tall Oaks apartments) and it is on the west side. You want to stay west of 131. There are a few students here, but mostly young professionals. Some other apartments nearby are Saddle Creek and Foxwood. They are all right near I-94 and a quick 5-15 minutes to Portage depending on where your work is at in Portage.
