Default Are homes selling in your area?

In spite of all the doom and gloom talk it seems like houses are still selling in my area. I guess the world just keeps spinning for some. We're about to put our house on the market, for about 50k less than we could have 3 years ago. I hope we can find that couple looking to downsize or a young couple that will appreciate the set up we have.
Anyway I was just curious as to what houses if any are selling around you and where you are they are selling.

I am starting to get calls from people who are buying or thinking about it. So, I do think houses will be selling this spring.

It has slowed here a bit, but houses are still selling in the Mason County area. Not at the pace of a few years ago, but enough to keep the Realtors in business.

Are you in real estate? I hope with the tax refund for new home buyers will put a shot into the home selling.

Realtor in my area says housing are selling, and also we keep in touch with realtors in the TC area and they say houses are selling well.
You would hope the $8000 tax credit would help, but I heard it is very tricky to understand with a lot of fine print.

No, I am a water drilling contractor. Many houses in our area have been empty this winter. The old style pumps will freeze and break. Some vandalism has been done. One well had cement poured down it.

It is always a good idea to have a driller look at the well before a purchase. Home inspectors just do not know how to check them. Some townships require a water test.

I was talking to a friend who's a real estate agent, and she said that they have buyers, but the banks are the hold up, up here. None want to lend, even with over 50% down. I don't know if it's just "seasonal homes" or everything though. Many homes up here aren't primary residences, so maybe that's why banks are being stingy.

Houses are selling here, slowly, at fire-sale prices.

My buddy is Coldwell Banker realtor in the Traverse City area and his phone has been ringing off the hook the last few weeks. Homes on Old Mission Peninsula are generating ALOT of interest. Home with water rights are selling quickly (w/in a couple of months ) when priced correctly. He said it's amazing the difference in homes with and without water access. So, if you have a house with water and want to sell, you're in good shape.
