We are going up tomorrow if the weather holds I think.

Standing with your arms spread on a beach of Lake Superior at the end of hundreds of miles of fetch blowing so hard with the waves crashing at your feet.

Petoskey Stones from Michigan
Petoskey Stone - Facts, Lore, History, Myths and Pictures
And a very good description of how they came to be and also how to polish them. If you put them into a rock tumbler, you will open it up to find nothing but sand left.

Some of my favorite things to do and places.
1. Going down to beach in St. Joseph MI, I came here before I LIVED HERE.
2. Veggie stands!
3. Allen Michigan to me was nice quirky very small town, that had great antique stores, and there was this one auugh cant remember their name though I ate there tons of times, but they are an antique complex, and there is a restaurant made out of log cabin building that had the best food, and I ate there several times before I moved out of Hillsdale county.
4. Glad to see Dowaigiac on here.
5. South Haven has this best used book store Black River Books, I love that place. South Haven to me is nice little town, with character, I used to hang out there years ago.
6. Michigan has great parks, and water.

Hi- We are moving to a farmhouse very close to Clam and Torch lakes in Antrim County. I still can't figure out where the good beaches in the area are. Is there a good place to throw down a towel and swim other than Lake Michigan beaches which are quite a hike from there? I would love to hear your suggestions. We don't have a boat yet and probably won't for a few years. Thanks!

There is a public access with a small beach and boat launch at the north end of Torch Lake in Eastport. There is also a day park with a large grass aera and swimming beach/dock on the northwest side in Torch Lake Village. I think there is also a public park at the southeast side just south of Alden. There are many smaller public accesses on Torch Lake but many of them are a bit more difficult to find and don't have any beach areas.

There is a great bike trail called the Hart-Montague bike trail in the Whitehall/Montague area north of Muskegan. Its 22 miles going north and south, and its all paved. It goes through the woods, next to the water, through towns! There are little places to stop and eat on the route. We went riding there last summer while camping, and had a blast..... Its very cool!
