Default Clarkston MI and water bills

Hi there,

I have a question for anyone living in Clarkston/Independence Twp. We just moved here and are on the municipal water system. I'm trying to find out about the average household water bill. We got our partial bill (half month) initially, and it seems high.

It is 101 HCF @ $1.3500000.

At this time we weren't even living in the house yet, but we were running water for washing windows, walls and carpet cleaning.

Does this seem right? We've paid all other utilities before, but a water bill is new to us. Any help would be appreciated.

thanks!

I live in the township. We only get a water bill every three months. In winter ours averages $100, or $33 per month. In summer it can be as high as $200 every three months because of running the sprinklers. This is for a family of four. So, I really don't think the water is that high. My mom will pay $80 a month all year and it is just her in the house.

I spoke with DPW yesterday. Apparently there was some major problem in the previous reading when they transferred from the previous owner. They are correcting the bill (minus $135!!!). I didn't think we'd have $300 monthly water bills! There are only three of us.
