Is Muskegon/Muskegon Hieghts worth investing in?
Hello
I been watching the Michigan housing market for awhile now. And know that in most of the state it's not in very good shape. I have particularly noticed that Muskegon/Muskegon Heights have alot of low cost housing. I have done some online research so far on the city data website and epondunk and found that I may wish to invest (Buy 1 or more houses) in the Muskegon/Muskegon Heights area. But before I book my flight to Muskegon area to take a look around myself I'd like to get some feedback about the place from people that live in there or have spent some time there. I would also like to ask some questions about the area.
1. How are taxes there? 2. How bad do you think crime in the area is? 3. How is employment there? 4. How are race relations? 5. What is the culture of the area?
Know that alot of questions. But I'm trying to get a vibe about the area and see if it worth investing in.
I thank all who answer this post.

Muskegon/Muskegon Hts
HI,
I live in Grand Haven not far from Muskegon. I would never buy a home in Muskegon Hts,crime and drugs terrible, bad schools. However North Muskegon,Norton Shores a burb of Muskegon is ok. If I were you I would look first at Grand Haven, Spring Lake.

I've got a couple of properties in the Northern Muskegon area. Great investments from what we can see so far? Are you looking to buy to move there or what are you wanting to do?

Very good deals to get into owning your own home -- that's the real investment. This isn't related to Muskegon area, but west Michigan in general. What is a nightmare for sellers is dream makers for the first time home owners or the young families looking for affordable homes.

As far as the Muskegon area goes, investment would only be a good idea in the city of Muskegon and Norton Shores, which are both nice areas. I would never recommend investing in Muskegon Heights. Poverty, drugs, crime, etc are all a part of daily life. I know someone who taught at their high school, and only 68 seniors graduated last year out of 400. If you're looking to be a good samaritian and invest in a bleeding community, go ahead, but if you're looking to see a monetary return on your investment, stay far, far away.

A new high school was built in Muskegon Heights in 2002. Highly qualified teachers work there and intelligent students go there. No more fighting or crimes have occured there than in Grand Haven or Spring Lake. Check with the local government for more info.

Your language sounds "ghetto" and ignorant. Because of your insensitivity and ignorance you could probably make a good living in any graffiti area.
