Default I am just amazed. Some things are working well I guess!

I did our taxes on Turbo Tax last Monday (4/13). We owed the Fed a few hundred dollars and were supposed to get a refund from Michigan for $874.00. I looked in my checking account & it was already deposited!!!! That has never happened that quickly. Not all is bad in our State offices

Mine was the same way with TurboTax. I couldn't believe how fast it processed. Makes me worried I missed something.

Some of you will think I'm crazy, but we were set to get a GR city income tax refund (about $90) and I donated it back to the city. I think they do a pretty good job as stewards of the city's finances (for the most part).

How long did your refund take to be deposited?

My refund from the State took less than a week I think. We had to pay federal.

I heard that California is so stony broke they are sending out worthless IOUs instead of tax refunds. See, Michigan isn't THAT bad.

So true. California controller suspends tax refunds, welfare checks - Los Angeles Times Gives me yet another reason to love Michigan even more. At least I got a very fast deposit into my checking account for my Michigan tax refund. Faster than any other one this year. (Fed, multiple states and 1 city tax rebates this year) Michigan beat them all by at least a week and the Fed by almost a month.

How can they send out IOUs instead of refunds?! That's incredible! Isn't a refund merely your money that you overpaid? I'm aghast. I got a $13 refund from GR city. I didn't donate it back to the city, but I did turn around and spend it downtown on lunch.

That is what California is doing. Holding back refunds. It needs that money to give to it's large number of welfare types I think.
