Ok here's the deal. I live in New Haven (about 27mile and Gratiot, just west of I-94). We have been approved for a mortgage! Yay! Well we think that we have found a house, but it is foreclosed and has some questionable paper work, yadda, yadda, yadda.
In the event that we don't get this house, we are willing to move elsewhere. I go to school at Baker College (clinton township) and will probably do my nursing clinicals somewhere in the Detroit area. My husband works in Melvindale and already drives upwards of an hour to an hour and a half each way everyday. We would like to possibly move a bit closer. But where? Bear in mind that I have 3 small children ( 6months, 4 years, and 6 years old) so safety, schools, backyards, and family orientated areas are highly important. The house can be no more than $125,000. Give me your input. What are some areas that would work for our family? |

If you could move away from Macomb County and want to be closer to Melvindale, I would consider Taylor, Westland, Brownstown. They all have nice family areas, reasonable housing and pretty good schools.

I'm probably a little biased, but I would definitely recommend Allen Park above Taylor or Westland. We have EXCELLENT schools here, and many reasonably priced houses. It's a very family oriented place.

Also, try parts of Dearborn. There's older, entry-level homes there...Ditto about Allen Park.
