A new, burgundy Chrysler Caravan careens behind my Honda, tailgating so closely I couldn't even see the guy's grille in my rear-view mirror. This jerk was aggressively accelerating and weaving all over my bumper, and after he finally decided to pass us and pick on some other unwitting foreign-car driver, you could see him snarling over his steering wheel - scary stuff...
...I incredulously looked at my boyfriend, and asked "Any chance that guy works for the UAW?.." My boyfriend glances over, points to the small "D" on the Chrysler's license plate and says, "Nope, he's probably a pissed-off dealer for one of the marked-for-closing Chrysler dealerships."

Or he could have just been an a-hole that drives that way regardless of what you drive. I had an Idiot do the same to me this week-end in my older Chevy Suburban that was built in Flint.

Us personally it's U.S. cars and we try to buy everything U.S. but it's near imposs. Buy U.S., Support U.S., More jobs will follow in the U.S.

I live in Michigan and I would buy an American made car. There are so many reasons. The Ford Fusion is a great vehicle. Look at consumer reports.
I have no respect for Americans who do not buy American cars.
Where do you think the profit goes of the foreign car companies? Why do you think American car companies have to buy foreign auto parts- to COMPETE with the foreign manufacturers! The reality is that we do not have socialized healthcare and the auto industry stepped up to pay retirement, health benefits for generations of employees and their families. Do you think Honda has been here since 1903 taking care of employees?
If anyone thinks that foriegn auto manufacturers are "creating" jobs, they are NOT, they are just shifting the market away from U.S. companies....

Southeast Michigan
I live in Southeast Michigan and I see about 80% Ford, GM, and Chrysler brands on the highways. My family, neighbors and coworkers are definitely still supporting the Big 3.

I've lived in northern Michigan (lower peninsula), the Upper Peninsula, mid-Michigan, and Southern Michigan in rural, urban, and suburban areas for my entire life (26 years), and I don't know one person that would care.

Quick answer to OP...yes. Do you need to trade in yours for a US car? No
I moved here a few years ago from Cali and was amazed by all the US cars in comparison to where I was from. Some models I had literally never seen!

When my wife was in grad school at U-M she had a Toyota. It wasn't a big deal. I worked for a company that supplied tooling to the big 3 and used to drive her car to the assy plants on occasion. No issues. I drove Ford products, myself.
Keep the Toyota till your ready; then maybe buy some Detroit iron if you find something that suits your needs and budget.

To the OP, we do the same thing the rest of the country does......We drive foriegn cars and get behind and push U.S. made ones. All depends if you want to get your excercise at the local gym or on the side of the highway.
