Default If anyone is seeking a job

I just went to LinkedIn and did a search, and 8080 job listings came up within 50 miles of 49503 (Grand Rapids). They come up when you click on "the web" tab after you do a job search. It's powered by simplyhired.com.

And for you Southeast siders, it returned 23,000 results for an area within 50 miles of 48335 (Farmington Hills). We're talking systems engineers, quality analysts, operations managers, even dog walkers.

(My wife actually heard about the jobs section on LinkedIn at a conference yesterday, so I checked it out).

Also woodtv 8 did a story last night on 6 companies that are hiring now or will be in the very near future. A couple of the companies were hiring up to 200 people. A plastic molding, wind turbine, and pharmceutical co were looking for workers and the pay was pretty good. here's another place looking for seasonal work.

Staffing firm to hire 150 immediately

You'll find a lot of jobs listed on websites are non-jobs. They're there just to collect resume data so recruiters can build up a database. Sometimes a company has to post a position externally even though they've already picked an internal candidate. Sometimes they're posting to just prove there are no "qualified" candidates so they can hire H1B's.

And even if there is a job -- the point of the process will simply be to find the lowest bidder. But I guess if your out of work -- being exploited is better than being unemployed.
