Nowhere on earth, IMHO, is that more urgently needed than in Detroit.

Love to teach..and love to have a house and food and a car...
Unfortunately LOVE of teaching doesn't quite pay the bills...at least 29K GROSS does not with a $125K house (now with a market value of $65K), $300 insurance, and $3500 property tax, in the city.
I remember when they had like 3,000 or more vacancies at DPS and had almost 5,000 applicants--at the end of the day there
were still 2,500 vacancies...
Having taught in Detroit for nearly 5 years I can attest to the fact that teachers are needed..but the prep schools will be fine..it is the everyday kids that reallly need the interaction and support.
Prep kids have money (90% of them come from familes that are doing pretty good) and will land on their feet. The everyday kid has nothing and is more likely to fall on their face and turn to inappropriate activities.
Can we also refrain from the personal assumptions and stick strickly to the topic and issue...NOT THE PERSON?
Thanks for your support...
