Can you give us a little more info on what you want? Kalamazoo/Portage is a "big" area with some nice outlying towns too.

You must have come from a very small town if you consider Kalamazoo/Portage to be 'big.' LOL. The K'zoo area isnt big at all.

Well Portage has EXCELLENT school systems and one of the highest ranked in the state.
They also have outstanding parks!!!

Kazoo has the "Promise" which if you have young children starting in the school system and go from 1-12 there they have a basic free ride to college.

Both have pros and cons, Portage has higher taxes I believe but generally safer area than Kazoo.

MI11... define "better". What are you after?
As I posted elsewhere, I'd start by reading up on the Kalamazoo Promise. Even if you don't start in Kzoo public schools until high school, you're getting yourself a HUGE discount on college. It's worth the money.

I work for the Portage School system. EXCELLENT!!!!! If I had school age kids I'd move here in a second. Top notch faculty that truly cares. Nice city. Lots of Parks, Restaurants, Shopping, Bike paths, Amazing Library. Lovely City.
