Most "Green" parts of MI
Where do you think the most "earth friendly/Green" cities or counties are in MI.? As far as... Recycling, Farmers Markets, Whole Food stores, Clean, "Earthy" etc. etc.
As I do think the whole "green" thing is over rated, Myself and my family are very "earth friendly/Organic" people before this was a "big thing". So I am just curious what you thoughts are in MI. to be the " greenest"

Has the Kentucky thing fallen through?
As for the greenest areas of Michigan, I personally think that after you get out of the larger cities it is all about the same. Not really a WWF flag waving bunch, but there are plenty of fresh homegrown foods you can find with local farmers markets in plenty of small towns. As well as being clean areas. Where I am on the West side isn't a bastion of eco-nazis, but there are plenty of Recycling, Farmers Markets, Clean, etc... types of people. You won't find a Whole Foods store, but then again why would you want to pay more at one of those places when you can buy direct from the farmer?

Oh, Ann Arbor is almost militantly green. That would be Washtenaw County. There's a lot of green leakage into Oakland and Livingston Counties as well.

There is a lot of "leakage" in Bay and Saginaw counties too. Unfortunately, it is raw sewage from their treatment plants on it way to the bay.

Whole Foods is a gimmick. Even in Michigan, all of their stores are in suburban strip malls and probably wouldn't qualify for "green" construction.
Greenest, as in culture, probably goes to AA. Greenest, as in construction projects and renewable energy efforts, probably goes to Grand Rapids/West Michigan.

LOL It would HAVE to go to Grand Rapids/West Michigan. That is about the only area much is going on.

Thanks for asking about the KY thing...It's funny but we grew up here all our 32 yrs. and it's hard to leave + there economy is slow, but here we can buy a house and get the most for our $$ in a great area. We have an advantage because we dont own a home yet. So the balls in our court if my husband ever moves from #5 on the list for work.

I know. It always amazes me how our area goes from looking like the plains of South Dakota to a Cambodian jungle in about 3 weeks.

People forget that there is much more than 2 Whole Foods in A2, Zingermans...as expensive as they are promotes green practices and has a huge selection of organic food. Trader Joe's as well has a extensive selection of unique and hard to find organic foods.
