Default How about Arcadia Twp in Lapeer County

I like the general Arcadia area anyone know more about the area. 2000 censes showed a lot of metal working and plastic workers .Have those jobs remained solid. I am retired so employment is not a problem May even do some small scale mini farming.I believe you can catch a train to Chicago from Lapeer that seems like a winner. Is there a better place to look? Arcadia seems rural enough and affordablee enough

I can't speak to the area, but yes, Lapeer is a scheduled stop on the Amtrak route to Chicago. Nicely restored former Grand Trunk Western station with a few restored cabooses on the street side.

I can't speak for the job situation but do live near Lapeer. The train station is VERY nice, and tickets to Chicago are dirt cheap! You won't be too far from Walmart & Meijer for groceries, and you'll have both Lapeer & Imlay City fairly convenient for dining. Arcadia is definitely rural though!!! If you are looking for that "middle of nowhere" feeling you'll surely find it. Right now I live in North Branch (just north of Lapeer) and we are certainly out in the sticks here!!

I grew up in Lapeer, don't live too far away now. Arcadia Twp is pretty rural, still a fair amount of farming going on. Most of the plastic and metal working jobs are(were) auto-related, hard to say how long they'll be around.

Nice area, good people, North Branch schools have a decent reputation.
