Flint has been going "downhill" for 30 years.

Look at the bright side:

If one could get the properties next door to be bulldozed, then one could have a heckuva garden....I'm just sayin'...

I really like the drive on 131 from GR to Reed City. From there I'd hit M-10 west to Baldwin. Some of the best fishin' and other fun there. One of the things I miss....

I think Michigan (Flint and Detroit in particular) have a chance to redefining urban - creating vast expanses of park and farm land around urban neighborhoods. Could really be interesting.

Why have infrastructure for 2 million people when that economy's moved on? How many mining towns have gone under and never returned once the mines were ... mined.

Who wants to live where you have to make a reservation 3-6 months in advance to get a camping site.

You might say that Michigan (and the United States) is transitioning from First World to Third World.

You always have to look at the bright side however. People don't tend to race cars down gravel streets as much or as fast, property taxes should go down if less roads have to be maintained.

I think where houses have been vandalized and are sitting empty, the best thing would be to create natural spaces, return those areas to the deer and raccoons and foxes.
