Moving to Richland, MI, Gilmore Farms... any comments
I was just wondering about anything there is to know about Richland. We are buying a home in Gilmore Farms, so any thoughts or knowledge on that place also would be great. We are moving within the next 2 months...probably sooner. I am from Louisiana as I have stated before on this forum and still worried about my accent. I am so excited we found a house we like and I can't wait to move, the heat down here is miserable. I can't stand not liking to be outside because it is 98 degrees until 10 pm and then only 77 all night. I have lived here all my life, but enough is enough. I can't to be able to go outside during the day and be comfortable. I also would trade snow for heat any day. I can wear lots of clothes, but there is only so much I can legally take off and go to town in the heat.
Sorry I am writing a lot, I am just so excited.

Richland is a really nice area, I think you'll love it. Lots of lakes and woods! Even some swampy areas, in case you get homesick

Do you have a boat? Nearby Richland is Gull Lake, one of my favorite lakes in all of Michigan.
You'll be close to Yankee Springs too, so if you have a mountain bike that's a very nice state park to visit.
Richland has great schools too. If you have school-aged children, they will get a fantastic education.
Good luck and welcome to Michigan!

One thing to look out for are the Richland police... i know two people, including myself, who got tickets for going 2 over. Other than that, Richland is a very beautiful area and not far from kalamazoo for bigger city events and such. Gull lake is a nice big lake not far from there for boating, fishing, ect.

I think you'll like Richland. There is a bike path that goes all the way to Kalamazoo and from there you can branch out and ride the Kal-Haven trail all the way to Lake Michigan. Gull Lake is beautiful and make sure you visit the Gilmore Car Museum near Richland, it's world class. The Air Zoo in Kalamazoo is offering FREE admission until September 30th...very much worth the visit. Welcome!
