Did you really expect someone to respond to a positive post about our great state of Michigan? Only doom and gloom brings em out.

I post on a Southern thread and they all think us Northerners are arrogant.
I asked why all the Yankee bashing in the South and they ripped me apart.

I think its wonderful news! I have sometimes fantasized that if I were to win the 100 million lotto that I would start a think tank of some sort to determine the best types of industry to fit Michigan's geographic, cultural and industrial placement.
This isn't exactly the same but I hope it leads to a domino effect.
My only wish would be that rather than building a new facility in Birmingham that they would go in a rehab some of the big old automative infrastructure just waiting for a breath of new life.

Yay! It's not much compared to the sunbelt, but it's something, and I'm happy for that. We still shouldn't be clinging to the auto industry to save us though.

I agree. It's good news to see any new jobs at all, but it will be better news when we see other industries coming to the state. We absolutely need to diversify for the sake of the future.

Michigan indeed needs more industries coming into the state.

It sounds like very good news to me, and on top of that it sounds like these new GE jobs are actually well paying good jobs to have. They are not the $7.50 an hour jobs.
Hopefully, this will stop some of Michigan's so called "brain drain" and maybe even bring some former residents or new residents into the state that are qualified, as these are very specific job positions.

Not only are more jobs needed to stop the brain drain, tapping into the local talent could also help. Perhaps Michigan's future could lie with the persons who can start businesses within Michigan.
