News, Michigan officials turn geese into food.
MILFORD, Mich., July 5 (UPI) -- Michigan officials, calling it a last resort, rounded up about 800 Canada geese this year and turned the birds into food for soup kitchens throughout the state.
This is the first time in many years the state Department of Natural Resources authorized the killing of the birds as part of its management plan, the Detroit News reported this week.

You know I've been wondering about why some agency hadn't done this for some time. I was told Geese aren't really tht good eating although one guy I talked to said the breasts weren't bad grilled.
I'm a bit of environmentalist, wildlife advocate and birder but town living Geese populations are a bit out of control. I was reading a mystery by a British author and in it one of the characters muses that Geese seem to be taking over the world, so its not just here.
I guess the question is, are they culling town, golf course geese? Or going out and getting Geese that are still migratory which would be a mistake in my book.

Glad to see that they're whackin' & stackin' 'em.
Food for the hungry, and quell the herd at the same time.
Come to AZ and kill some doves. They're so cute, but very yummy.
Too bad y'all can't do that in Michigan.
Save the trees!
Wipe your arse with an owl!
Whatever.......

And greasy, eh?
I'm gonna have to practice a bunch to get that meat right.
I've done the jerky thing; it's OK.
As you can tell, I'm not into goose hunting, but I'd kill 'em for the soup kitchens.
Too bad MI isn't overrun with pheasants. Too bad MI is overrun with doves; and it's illegal to shoot 'em for lunch.
Send sweet corn my way, pleez.
