I agree the best things in MI are people. People are down to earth and very friendly. In short time I found many friends and they became my family. MI has great nature, especially around great lakes area. Unfortunately I'm moving out because of employment.

Michigan does not have very warm summers. Thw water really doesn't warm up enought to get in until summer is almost over. which is okay because the currents are so strong I don't want my kids in anyway. We love our snow in Berrien county 12 inches is a dusting to us. lol Jobs are hard to find and don't pay very well. Health care is shoty unless you can go into IN or over to U of M. I drive my youngest 350 miles round trip every week. The court system is paid off or runs by who you know. I would look at TN if I were you. I was born here and am sad to say most MI people are not very nice. I mean give the shirt off your back because you need it nice. This is a great place to visit but I want out.

I am from the Kalamazoo area as for the public school system there it is ok and the only thing going for the school's is the Kalamazoo Promise which I really don't know much about as I don't have any children in that school system as my only child goes to Portage school. I will be relocating back their after the first of the year I personally like the upper north west LP ie Traverse City area last I knew the school system was doing well and crime was nothing like the south east area's. I am a Maintenance Supervisor for a Apartment Community now and will look for employment in that field. I'd have to agree with some the other member's if your in the medical field go for Grand Rapid's area you will have better opportunities and the school's in GR are good to. While I may not be heavily educated with 4 year's plus of college behind me I do have 20 yrs active military service behind me I did retire 4 yrs ago and have continued on with my primary duty Maintenance. Michigan still has alot to offer if folk's will look past the dieing auto industry there and look to the west side of the state or either side of the northern upper LP
