Default Good signs in my area

I took a drive through my sub last night to pick my son up at a friends house. It was a nice sight to see all of the homes that were for sale and or foreclosed on all seem to have been sold. Even the house next door to us sold and the new people started moving in yesterday. Our house has been shown a few times since going on the market a few weeks ago and we think one woman is working on making an offer ( we hope). Some of the houses were on the market for a long time but sold within the last 2 months. I'd say this is a very good sign.
There also seems to be a lot of new retail development going on close bye. Right down in Hartland they have built yet another Wal-Mart and Meijer along with other new retail buildings. Thrown in the clunker program and people have been lining up at the car dealerships. Not getting too excited but it is good to see some positive signs.

All of the empty, in some cases abandoned, units in my condo complex have been bought, even the one that was being rented out because it had been on the market for 6 years. That means the complex is back on a paying basis, bringing in dues from all the units, for the first time in something like 5 years. A couple more businesses are building additions, like the Shell station on the corner, so they have more room to work in and that seems very positive.

It appears that the aerospace industry is picking up a little out here, and the solar companies are hiring.

Our neighbors across the street have been renting for two years as they were foreclosed on. They are heading back to Scottsdale as they purchased a better home this time. We're happy for them.

Our nasty tenants have left, thank goodness. By the end of this week, our 'lil condo will be ready to rent. 2 couples have already inquired, and we haven't advertised or even put the "For Rent" signs up.

Stay positive!

Regarding your DM about yardwork, I can go about an hour then it's H2O and AC time. For some reason, My reply function isn't working properly over here. I keep getting an error message....

Anywhooo,

I'm glad things are picking up in your neck of the woods, and with fall coming, football season, then hockey time, it's a great time to be in Michigan. Let's hope the Tigers do well also.

I read that MI is considering keeping the prison open in Standish for the Gitmo detainees. I dunno if that's good or bad.

Also, even though Buick is pulling their sponsorship from Warwick Hills in Grand Blanc, it's my understanding that several other companies are interested in keeping some kind of tournament there. Penske, Dow Chemical, etal.

Keep your fingers crossed.

I heard them talking about that on the radio today. They also reported that the sponsors pulled out of the Motor City Bowl but good ol Mike Ilitch saved the day and now it's going to be the Pizza Pizza bowl. At least that is what they were reporting.

Since Mike Illitch also owns Hell, MI, and has turned it into a Halloweeen theme park, I keep wishing he'd call it something cooler, like the Bat Bowl or the Hellzapoppin' Classic.

This isn't related to the west side of the state but my father just sold his home at asking price in 30 days! (Near Dexter) Maybe we are nearing the bottom of the mountain to start our long journey to recovery.
