anywhere that is within an hour of dearborn to live that is country like?
Hubby and I are hopefully moving within the year. One choice is Milan. Any other cities that are country like within an hour of Dearborn. I am a country girl at heart, but it is hard finding a city that use to be like Canton before it got built up.

Milford, Highland, Hartland, Marion Township, parts of Howell, parts of Brighton still have a lot of open area and are withing an hour drive of Dearborn. There are a lot of area's within an hour drive. Look north west unless you like open flat land. Then go way south of Dearborn.

Washtenaw County...south of Ypsilanti. Also some space north of Ann Arbor.

Washtenaw County just west of Canton. I went for a drive today and it looked like country roads from UP.
Superior township is mostly rural with a few subdivisions. No gas stations, no stores. gravel roads.
Believe it or not... try driving out Cherry Hill Rd or Joy Rd in Washtenaw County... near Salem township. Very rural. And well within 1 hour drive of dearborn... more like 30 minutes.

You can also try Jackson and Hillsdale Counties, as well as eastern Calhoun County near Albion.

It's a solid hour from Albion to Ann Arbor alone, so outside the one hour to Dearborn criteria.
Keep in mind that if the metro Detroit economy ever does pick up again that the area west of Canton-Plymouth is going to be ground zero for urban sprawl. I'd probably stick to Washtenaw County, but west of US 23.

Good point...dont necessarily need to go north, there is plenty south of Dearborn in terms of rural areas. New Boston, South Rockwood, Flat Rock, these areas might be be good, plenty of woods around.
