Default Apartments in Kalamazoo

We will be moving to the Kalamazoo area in the near future and would appriciate any information you can give us regarding some nice apartments in Kalamazoo. We are looking for a quiet area away from the noise to live. Also does anyone know what sort of credit you need to get apartments and is it difficult go get one. This is our first time moving into an apartment and we are also collge students. Any suggestions and advice are greatly appreciated.

I seem to remember it was quite easy to get credit approval for a flat I rented in MI. They ask for the normal information, then you wait... And so long as your credit is not simply SWFUL, you should have no problem.

As for quiet areas, I would stay away from the main drags obviously. West Main, Westnedge, Centre Street, etc... These tend to have lots of apartment complex buildings, as there are lots of Universities about the area, so lots of students.

Why not rent a compartmentalized house. Liek one of those big, big old houses that has been renovated into three or four smaller flats? I loved that! That way,t here is a bit of history as well! Best of luck to you!

I lived off of W. Main near Drake, and altho there were a lot of complexes here, ours was really quiet because it was further back. And there are a lot of stores nearby, and downtown is only a 7 minute or so car drive. Downtown thou is quite noisy.

I also just relocated to Mi I'm a recent college grad and received a job in Kalamazoo (Mattawan area). I found the nicest apartment in Portage which is in Kalamazoo called Candlewyck apartments. It has a fire place, balcony, two pools,a business room for tenants which is equipped with a fax machine, computers you name it. It also has a small fitness center and laundry facilities...I love it..just signed my lease. The property is very well kept as well. The aparrtment is close to everything supermarkets, mall, restaurants, highway..oh and your also allowed to have dogs.

The neighborhood seems decent asked around before making a commitment..seems like a really quiet environment.

COOPER'S LANDING has great Apartments in a nice quiet area in the northeast corner of Kzoo. I think its on Sprinkle Rd. and is about 5 miles dead north from the expressway that runs east-west below Kzoo.

I almost moved here but decided not to take a job in Battle Creek earlier in the year. Here's their profile on apartments.com:

Arrow Maybe check...

Out the aprtments on Drake Rd. between KL and W. Main ( I forget the name).

Also check out the apartments on the KL west of US-131 (also forget the name of these). I grew up in Kalamazoo, but have not lived there for 11 years, and the apartments I rented were "on the man drags...)

Hope it helps!

I'm only familiar with one of the complexes between on Drake but that one is called Drakes Pond. When my friend lived there several years ago it was quite nice; I don't know if that has changed but its worth checking out.
