Not offhand, I've done a lot of work in that area but otherwise don't know it really well -
craigslist might be your best bet, especially if you'd be open to a house sharing arrangement. A friend of mine lived for a couple of years in a rented room/house sharing arrangement in a beautiful big house with a pool and all the amenities for $350 a month, in Sterling Heights. That sort of thing can be a sweet deal if you can find a harmonious arrangement.
Most areas north and east of OU are pretty nice. Anywhere up the M-24 corridor towards Lake Orion is pretty, and that is not a bad commute, either. South and west you're getting into more congestion, sprawl and some dodgy areas.
