The saying in Michigan is "Toledo is a good place to be FROM". Good choice, moving from the Buckeye state.

thesearch is on a distinguished road
If you just want too move away from Toledo I would look at Brighton,MI. It is an hour and five minutes to Toledo, 45 minutes to Lansing which seems to have all you would need along with Howell which has a really cool looking downtown, it is about an hour from Detroit so not real close. From what I have seen it is very pretty up there [ hilly, parks, etc. ].
True I only know this from research I have done online, but I have done quite a bit of looking so I think I am accurate. I know the times are right because a mapped them google. If you would like to look it up I'd be glad to give a couple of sites I was on.

Well, it's not a big city! It looks bigger than it is because it's contiguous with Ypsi, Saline and places like that.

I live there and the schools are in real financial trouble. There is NO gifted-students track anywhere in the county; the courses are so dumbed down the kids graduate without knowing how to address a letter or use a phone book. Every Brighton kid I know complains about how stuck-up the other kids are there, too.
