Default Home remedy for hard to get hornets

I honestly don't know if these things are hornets, yellow jackets or what. But I had tried every kind of spray known to man to get rid of this nest. They found a little crack on the over hang of my house and I sprayed and sprayed with no luck.

Soooooo. Last night I rigged up my shop vac. I pounded a pole into the ground and tape the tube to it about 2 inches below the hole. This morning I woke up, hooked up the vacuum and watched. It was pretty funny watching these things fly in from wherever and ( floop) bye bye into the hose. The ones coming out were pretty fun to watch as well. You could see them trying to cling to the wood and then (floop) into the tube they would go. I let it run for a couple of hours until I no longer seen any trying to get in or out. I then tested a little hornet spray down the tube. Shop vac did not catch fire so I shot a little more then a little more. I then let it run a little longer. Took it down about an hour ago. Taped up the hose and the exit. Have seen no activity since. Going to spray the hole before bed and cover the hole if there is no new activity.
