Joining the Michigan diaspora
Unfortunately, next week I will be joining the Michigan diaspora. After over a year of searching in Michigan with no luck, I finally started looking in other states. I found a stable, good-paying job in Columbus, Ohio, and I will be moving there very shortly. This economy is just sad, and there are few if any career opportunities in Michigan.
I really appreciate being a part of this forum; discussing and informing newcomers of the greatness that is Michigan. I won't be nearly as active in this forum, though I still plan on stopping by from time to time.
I will certainly miss Michigan, and I can say that I hope to return someday. MI will always be my home, and I plan on returning to visit. No matter where I go, I will always be a Michigander.

Good Luck in the new job! Plus, Columbus isn't THAT far away, you can still visit plenty. Keep active here as well when you can, there isn't many posters who know that area of the State as well as you do.

Good luck. I had to leave Michigan in '03 after I lost my job, and I don't see myself coming back anytime soon, except to visit friends and family.

Good luck , Columbus isn't so bad. I spent 2 years working in Marysville (just outside of Columbus), there wasn't much in the rural areas but downtown Columbus is only 35 minutes away. And the downtown area is REALLY cool.

I was born and raised in Columbus and lived there until high school. Really nice, cool city with plenty of stuff to do. I still really like it there. Its growing extremely fast which is kind of hard to digest for me, since now its so different from when I lived there, but it has a more stable economy. My father and my grandparents both live in Dublin.

Diaspora. Neat word. I am unfamiliar with it and I was an English major. I will ahve to go look it up.
Sorry to hear that you are forced to leave. Come back soon. Watch out for those Buckeyes, they are a bunch of nuts.
