Why not? Read about the history of Singapore and Honkong. These cities used to be full of crime, prostitution and poverty. Because of special status as a Free Economic Trade zone these cities were transformed into a world class cities. Detroit has all the qualities and potentials to be the world class city.

Are you talking about just Detroit or the entire state of Michigan? Detroit has already given away tax breaks for businesses to start up in the area. Also, the main difference is that Singapore and Hong Kong were in communist countries, which explains why the free-trade zone worked wonders for them. The U.S. is a free-market country, which means that there is no way to give a city or state "free trade status." The only way I could see this done is to make the city (state) tax-free, which would NEVER happen.

Oh no no no no Hold it....blacks DID NOT chase out the remaining whites in detroit. Speaking from someone who once lived in detroit with a black mother and a white father, that is not true. Whites decided to leave because they felt it was too many blacks. It always happens. whites move when they see too many of black people and the black people follow That, along with the increasing rate of violence, due to the epidemic of crack which hit Detroit the hardest in the 80's and early 90's. The blacks didn't have the money to pay for the cocaine that the majority of whites with money used, so they got the worst form ;"crack" and you can tell, because it has effected the community like major. When that went down, the violence increaed, the school system shut down, and the services are HORRIBLE in detroit. You can call the police and they WILL NOT come out until like 2 hours later. That is why whites moved. Not because blacks chased them out....in fact....it is TRUTH that a black criminal will attack his own before he dream of attacking a white woman or white male..not that it doesn't happen, but most of the time it what they like to call, "black on black" crime.

Yes there is a problem, a problem like a lawsuit. I doubt there are businesses who hire blacks and whites with the same job qualifications and experience that would pay blacks much lower just because they are black. That would be a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Almost every business has a pay scale for each position - starting pay, and pay range. A black or white hiring in, would be placed at the starting pay for their years of experience and both would receive cost of living and merit raises.

The reason whites felt there were too many black is : when there is 1 black person, no problem. When there are 2, 3, 10, 20, 30 etc, you get racial tension. Black people become resentful of whites (just like in this thread) and then get violent. If what you said was true then being white in a "black" area would be safe. But thats not the case.

Let me refer you to the '67 riots. Many blacks in Detroit had union auto jobs just like the whites did, yet they chose to destroy the city to make some kind of point to the white man. They sure showed 'em. Why would anyone want to stay in Detroit after that? Add to that the election of a racist mayor and city council and you predetermine the future results. Read your local history.
