What is the town of Iron River like? How are the winters? Any good fishing lakes near there?

Small town, very close to Wisconsin border.
TONS of small lakes that are great for ice fishing!!!
Crystal falls has an annual fisheree festival in the winters, crystal falls is only 20 minutes from iron river.
Iron River is only a couple of hours North of Green Bay, only 20 minutes north of iron mountain.

Great little town, but very clannish. Homes are a bargain compared to most places. A great grocery store called Angeli's and a McDonald's.You had better have a job lined up or a good income because employment opportunities are very limited. Pretty mild winters for the UP. More lakes in and near Iron county than you can fish in a lifetime. Sylvainia wilderness area to the west with great fishing/canoeing/camping opportunities. In a nutshell, if you like the outdoors it would be hard to pick a better place.
