After graduating, I moved to Colorado to find a job. I'm working now in Dowtown Denver. Things are alright, but not great. I would like to move back to Michigan so that I can be closer to my family. So, is it safe to return? Any good news about the job market?

If you can find a job, it is a great time to return!
I would not return until you have employment, but the housing prices here will probably (hopefully) never be lower. Some companies are hiring although not very many.
GE will be staffing a wind turbine research facility and corporate software development center in Van Buren Twp.
Universities are continuing to hire at a low rate.
A variety of "Green Energy" start up firms are scheduled to occupy the former Ford Wixom plant.

Well, I did not graduate with a specialized degree, so any administrative/managerial job would suffice. I'm making in the low $30k range here, which is kind of tight since Denver is a little more expensive than Detroit. But I hear that housing values are very low in Detroit and I would seriously consider purchasing a home there. House prices are still very high here. You'd be lucky to find one under $500k in the Denver city limits.

Then I would say, if you could land a job here, you stand a good chance of being able to live like a czar after you settle into a stunning foreclosure property that will only set you back about a year's pay.
