They have a Gyro on the menu and also a Greek salad. But, for all intents & purposes, the U & I is dive bar where at least half the patrons are chain smokers. They do make a good burger though.

I think that one reason it closed was that the animal rights people made a big stink about the animals being stressed during some events, like the Blue Angels shows.

The zoo really had no room to grow or improve there though, and many if not most of us thought it was just going to move to a different location. I and others I spoke with liked the idea of moving it over to the GT Commons or near the botanical gardens, which would have been great by the commons as well.

BTW Are the botanical gardens moving forward still or are they stalled?

Well now, there's a "Blast from the Past."

I'm thinkin' "The WhereHouse."

Gosh, it's been so long since I've "partied" in TC.

Congrats to St. Francis (again) for another undefeated regular football season.

Let the playoffs begin.....

Great idea. I often shopped there when I lived in California.

Better fast food options:

Panera
Panda Express
Chipotle
Chilorios
Baja Fresh

Luzette is on a distinguished road
My friend downstate is always going to Trader Joe's. I wish TC would get one too.

Each of the last 4 years, they have sold over 1000 dinners in about 6 hours. So, the demand is there & I think whoever takes the plunge ( I still think about it & have about $100k to start it up), will be hugely successful, especially if it's a small place w/less than 20 tables which will enable winter profitabiltity IMO.
Watch your step Peter B....you know how to make a small fortune in the restaurant business? Start with a big one!
You could plan on 80 hr weeks if you opened a Greek place.
Red Ginger seems to have proven that Asian food (other than the second rate Chinese slop available in a number of places) can do well in TC. Greek could do well also, if it was in a smallish place with wine available and IF the food was very good.
The restaurant scene in TC, especially in downtown, has improved dramatically in the last 5 years.

I sold my house in TC a year ago, and now I just have to drive 2 hours to Trader Joe's. Y'all ought to start a write in campaign though to TJ's to let them know they would be appreciated. :-)
