Default What part of muskegon is good to live in ?

I havent been there in many years and would like to know what would be a better part of town? I am looking at buying a house there and I am not racist but I do prefer a mostly white neighborhood.I am looking at the west side of us 31 around peck st and hackley or laketon.

The better parts are mostly on the east side of town in the areas called Bluffton, Glenside, and Lakeside (listed from least to most affordable). Depending on your budget and what you are looking for, you might prefer to look at the adjoining communities of Norton Shores, Roosevelt Park, or North Muskegon. The Mona Shores school district (which includes Norton Shores and R. Park) is generally regarded as better than Muskegon.

For more info, do a search on this forum. There have been a few threads on the Muskegon area.

Yes, those areas are on the west side, sorry. I was thinking they were on the other side of US-31 (the business loop) from Peck & Hackley, which you said was west of 31. I guess you meant west of the highway proper, not west of the business loop.

Anyway, there are some great deals in the Muskegon area.

Here's the thread I started back when I was looking into moving to this area (my first CD thread -- how time flies): http://www.city-data.com/forum/michi...and-haven.html
