Don't really know how the SE corner is doing for prices, or the larger areas of the state, but, with that being said there is some good deals out there right now. My sister who fled to North Carolina 3 years ago, just returned to Michigan. Sold their house down there for what they owed on it, and didn't have to take a loss like they thought they might have to, and bought a brand new house just outside of Grand Rapids for $120,000. 3 bedroom, 2 bath sitting on 2 wooded acres. All appliances (she picked out the colors and units she wanted), deck on the back of the house, first fill of propane on the builders tab as well. Not bad price if you ask me. Plus Brother-in-Law had a job waiting as well as my sister. No they are not in the health care field, and he doesn't have a college degree either.

She is a very outgoing, friendly person and after 3 years in their neighborhood in N.C. they still didn't know the neighbors. They are already known by name in the stores they go to in Michigan, and by their neighbors, they have been back a total of 2 weeks is all. (Not Dutch, nor do they even look Dutch so don't even bother bringing that OLD stereotype up.)
