Default Anyone from Cheboygan, Mackinaw City, or Indian River?

These are several cities I'm considering, but I'm having to limit my search somewhat because my health insurer pretty much covers west of Highway 127. I know these are tourist areas, but if anyone knows about life there during the *other* months, please give my your recommendations. Thanks for your input!

Default I'm from Rogers City..

I think if I had to make a choice from the towns you listed I'd pick Cheboygan.. I live south of Cheboygan and North of Alpena.. I think Mackinaw City, and Indian River are pretty dead- business wise in the off season and Cheboygan would be you best bet..What field of work do you do? That might make a difference in the decision too...

I lived in Cheboygan and grew up there. Its a great place to live if you are into boating, fishing, hunting, and other outdoor activities. If you are the type of person who still wants something to do in the off season, this is the place to go, the other cities close by are pretty quiet unless you go to Petoskey.

Unless you're independently wealthy or retired and don't need an income then I wouldn't recommend Cheboygan either. There are very few jobs here and even less that pay much.

I have to work 2 jobs in Mackinaw during the summer for lack of year round employment in Cheboygan.
