Default Hello Everyone...

I will be traveling up to Lansing/East Lansing/Okemos for a business trip this weekend. Some Caresource employees will be moving down here to the Dayton area and we need to inform them about the move. I have a few questions.

I always go to Detroit on business, but it has been a while since I have last been to the Lansing area. We are spoiled in Ohio with good roads.

Are the roads in the Lansing area as bad as the roads in Detroit? If so, what areas can I avoid so that I don't end up blowing a tire like I did in a rental in Livonia? Only problem is, this time it will be my car, so I am a little more concerned...

Thank you for your responses.

a.capella7 is on a distinguished road
Lansing is in the top 5 for worst roads in Michigan. Detroit is huge with nice areas and not so nice areas so it's kind of hard compare our road to theirs - but I drive on Lansing road everyday and I've never blown a tire. If you know how to drive and you watch the road, your car will be remain perfectly fine.

Thank you for your response. I am currently in my hotel now. The roads were well... bad. What are the best areas in Michigan as far as roads go?? I have been in Detroit, and the city was terrible, and Livonia was where I blew the tire (problem was it was a huge pothole and I wasn't paying attention so...) I did notice the suburbs had some decent roads though.

My sister lives in North Lansing/Dewitt and I live in Beavercreek OH. Its not that different here than there. The older poorer areas of Dayton have crap for roads as do the older poorer areas of any struggling small midwestern city. The suburbs, like Beavercreek have better roads, the nicer suburbs in Michigan have nicer roads, typically they are new for one. Its a bit worse in Michigan because the weather is a little worse.
This is making Michigan sound like some sort of adventure safari of badness and having lived both places and spending lots of time in both places I can assure they are more similar than not.

Not really...

I was in Okemos, a nice upper class suburb of Lansing, the roads were terrible. You can literally tell the differance (blindfolded if you will) between entering Ohio from Michigan. The roads get that much better. And of course! Roads in the inner cities will be worse, you find that all over the country. Did you not read what I first posted? I blew a tire in Livonia, not Detroit, Livonia!

There is a differance, a huge one. Michigan has some of the worst roads in the nation, and Ohio has been voted to have some of the best. Do some research, its not just an opinion.

Curious. Where at do you live in Beavercreek?

Actually if you did your research before posting this, you would see you are wrong in stating that MI roads are some of the worse in the nation. All you have to do is look on the Federal Highway Administration site and look for the road condition reports from where they DO measure each states roads and Highways NHWA. Voting is nice, but flawed when it comes to measuring something with real instruments and without the bias of the voters. I'll take the real hard data from a source that has nothing to gain or lose by reporting the real actual data and facts.

You are from Ohio and so far have posted nothing but how OH is so much better than MI on the MO forum. Are you just here in a troll mode, or do you have any comment that is even remotely creditable to add?
