Default Need info on downtown Taylor

Hi,

I'm a scriptwriter for an internet marketing company that produces mini videos for cities/towns across the country. They're kind of like PR brochures, only in video form and are designed to let people who may be interested in moving, visiting, or starting a business in a particular town know what it's like.

Today, I'm writing about Taylor and the only thing I can't find any information on is the downtown area.

Can someone give me the skinny on what it's like or point me to websites that will give me the info?

Is it quaint and historic, filled with small specialty shops...a destination gathering place...undergoing or already undergone a revitalization? Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Robin

It doesn't have one. Taylor, Dearborn Heights, Lincoln Park, and some other towns are bedroom communities. Taylor was a township made into a city so it does not have an area where the city grew out of (like Biddle Ave and Eureka Ave in Wyandotte or Ford Rd and Inkster Rd in Garden City). It might have sort of a false downtown along Goddard Rd at about Pardee Rd, but it was "created" to look like a downtown (like W. Warren Ave in Dearborn Heights) but it's basically city hall and a restaurant or two, no real shopping. There are other nearby cities with downtowns though.

Nope. Was incorporated as a city in 1968 as a city from a township. It was actually known for its less than great collection of residents around that time and got the nickname "Taylortucky" for it's rather backwards residents. Though this is no longer true, though some may still use the term. The city has become very, very nice. Great parks and houses, but you will not find a downtown.
