Default Possible move to Woodhaven

I am considering moving to Woodhaven and was wondering about the schools. I currently have a child in 6th grade (which is elementary school here) and one in 4th grade.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Are you related to Wally05? (See Detroit section -thread about moving to Woodhaven)

Woodhaven has decent schools. It is a solidly middle class clean and freindly place to live.

The best schools in the area by far is Grosse Ile. I think that Trenton is the next best, followed by Riverview, Woodhaven, Southgate which are pretty close to each other as far as how good they are. Southgate may be a school of choice, which is not a good thing for most districts.

Wyandotte, Lincoln Park and Allen Park are not so good. Not terrible, but not good either. They have some substantial probelms.

There are some decent private schools (one catholic and one secular that I can think of). Depending on where you are coming from, you probably do nto want ot bother with private schools, The public schools are good enough. But then it is my opinion that the student's and parents motivation have a lot more to do with how successful a child is than the schools do. (Our kids were in a terrible school district for a time and they did extremely well).
