Gary, Indiana is not the ugliest city in America. That honor goes to Port Arthur, Texas. It looks like Iraq there.....all you see is sand and oil refineries. EGAD! At least Gary is on Lake Michigan and has Chicago beside it.

I don't know about ugliest, but I can't believe no one's picked Petoskey for most beautiful in Michigan. Little Traverse Bay, Sunset Park, Bay View, historic downtown, Greenwood cemetery.....

I think the whole western shore from Grand Traverse Bay up to the Straits area is the most beautiful in Michigan

Default It's a tie between Canton and Sterling Heights

Both are the worst planned cities on the planet, and the site of the worst traffic jams in Michigan.

Traffic is bad on Ford Road, but how does that make the city ugly?
From what I have seen, Canton is lots of trees, subdivisions and big box stores/strip malls. The trees are very pretty.

Ironwood looks like a frozen rust belt town. I heard they were trying to build a Wal Mart there. Otherwise, the main strip looks desolate compared with many other towns in the state.

ha, some of these nominations are funny, it depends on what you describe as "ugly". I happen to think that Detroit, Jackson, and Battle Creek are not ugly, because although they have grit, they all have nice old skylines and an infastructure that gives it potential in the future. And Hamtramk is one of the most intersting cities in the midwest maybe even the country, I dont find it ugly.

My vote for ugliest would be Sagnasty, that place is a dump, very mixed up, mostly unkept, spralling unattractive trailerpark suburbs and cheap strip malls, sad attemps at everything after the 1920s, with a few nice old buildings but nothing that sticks out too much.
Flint is right up there but also a very interesting place with its lawlessness its like Flint's its own counrty, theres buety to that I guess.
