Anybody know why the city is cutting down all the trees on the Flint side of Center Rd? Are they infested?

A thought the emerald ash borer went through all of south-east Michigan all the way up to Flint many years ago. I'm pretty sure the EAB reached Flint by 2005-2006. So if the trees have been dead for some time, they were probably infested by the EAB.

The awful EAB reached my neighborhood in 2004, when it first appeared in the state. It's so sad to see what it has done to all of the once beautiful Ash trees. I had to take down three in my yard.

This is a 2009 map of where the EAB currently has infested.

Sorry to say, looks like the EAB will kill every ash tree in the midwest. I think the DNR has totaly given up on the lower pennisula, and now only work to prevent infestation of the UP. From what this map says, looks like it is already in some areas of the UP. Im in mid michigan and ash wood is for sale everywhere, as people are trying to get something for the dead trees.
