It stinks, no matter where you live, if you can't make a living because you can't get a good enough job, and you can't afford to move because you can't make a good enough living.

Anyway, I hope your kid (boy or girl?) gets to see his/her relatives soon enough.
Yeah....thank God for email:} I hope that someday if Michigan turns around we can go back, although my husband is not fond of that idea at all (he's originally from Missouri). Missouri has been really good to us though, I can't complain about it at all really. But yeah its that 'no place like home thing' that I can't seem to get over:}
ps. its a girl and thank you!

well this baby was sort of an 'accident' :} so not only do we NOT have a gas friendly vehicle but our better vehicle is an S-10! Once we get some things paid off I would like to get a hybrid, so that we can travel cheaper. Just have to get caught up first....neither of us make that much $.

I have had the pleasure of going to the Ozarks....it IS pretty down there

Congrats on the girl! Got a name yet?

I'm glad Missouri is suiting you well enough. Really, Missouri is so diverse. Even the weather. It's like the bi-polar state. But I do hope you can eventually go home.

Yeah well I'd rather be bankrupt in MI than stuck out here in AZ where I am now. The places are overpriced and the work us underpaid. You might as well be going into default.

Count your blessings that you at least get to live in MI, despite Kwame and Granholm and all the damage Engler and the big three did. I'd give just about anything to get back there. Better people, better climate and more to do.

I think you spelled it wrong. You wrote A C C I D E N T when we all know it is spelled "unexpected blessing"

I have one of those also.

He is the most excited about going home to the Ludington area. All he has talked about for 2 years is how much he misses his beach and Michigan. He just turned 5 by the way, little man who knows where he wants to be.

We're also heading out of MI and I can honestly say - I've never been happier!

We have moved around quite a bit (7 states in total) and MI was my least favorite state to live in. We have been here a little over a year and I have made one friend (and I'm a friendly person). People keep to themselves here although we chose to live in Northville and I think that is the main problem.

Also, I want to get it now before my property values decrease any more than they already have (paid $450,000) and now we will be lucky to sell for $390,00 (thankfully the company will buy the house although we will still take a bath)

Also, I have to say, I'm a bit concerned about the U of Michigan, MI State mentality. Yes, they are both good schools but there are great schools outside of MI!! Look at the east coast - tons and tons of great colleges there and do people here even realize that?

All in all I hate to offend anyone but not impressed with MI - especially coming from the suburbs of Chicago!

Why would you be "stuck"? Why wouldn't you just pick up and move back?

Not everyone is cut out for moving to another state and you may be one who needs your familiar neighborhood, family and so on too much to be happy anywhere else.

Everyone isn't the same -- and Arizona could be too hot for some just like Michigan is too cold for some. It's okay for people to move to where they like it better or to find a job but it's not okay to let yourself be "stuck" because in reality very few are that.

Happiness is a state of mind. The way some of you sound, seems like you won't be happy no matter where you end up. I moved out of MI because I have bills to pay just like everyone else. I enjoy having a job to go to every morning more than I enjoy living in AZ. I never had a job longer than 2 years in MI. Constant contract work that would always abruptly come to an end. Still own my house in Ypsilanti though. WAs blessed with good tenants, and untill that payment skyrockets on that 5 year ARM then I'm going to hold on to it. If I had the job I have now, I'd probably move back. But I don't, and I refuse to look back!
Keep your heads up Michiganders! Learn to be happy, expect the best, take advantage of the power of the universe!
