Walled Lake is a very nice area, has a nice big lake, a small older town area. Its also very close to twelve oaks mall in Novi. The walled lake school district is very highly rated. Housing is all over from older homes to new subdivisions of very expensive homes. Also close to major expressways. Its an area that has a lot to offer.

I grew up in Wixom (right next to Walled Lake). I agree that the schools are good, but if you have kids with any sort of learning problem be very careful. The classes are large and it's hard to get the care that they need and deserve. It is close to a lot of things and has great shopping. Houses are fairly expensive and older homes are not selling well. So when you want to move again, plan way ahead. Traffic gets bad in some places to, and is a joke around rush hour. Also the Ford Plant in Wixom just closed leaving quiet a few more people without jobs. If you work around there you probably can't afford to live there.

Not to sound all bad I really did enjoy living there and only moved away because of lack of jobs. Prices at stores are reasonable and you really can find some great deals.

If you have more specific questions just let me know.

Walled Lake used to be a very nice small town with only the occasional drunk lingering the streets. That was a long time ago. Now as the town has built up in to a city, there are lots of problems. I was raised in that town and I must say, it has seen better days. The biggest problem threatening that city is the infestation of drugs. They are everywhere. This is no longer the city to raise children in. Police are quick to issue speeding tickets but ignore drug dealers and burglars who are a threat to the community. I moved out 8 years ago when the whole neighborhood was being burglarized by drug addicts and the police refused to take action. My advice is to choose a different area to live.
