We are a family of 5! My husband just landed a job downtown GR and I at Spectrum! It is a lot worse off in Southeast MI IMO. So, YAY for landing a job in MI, in this state and economy it truly is a miracle!!
Anyhow, We do not know anyone in GR!
  • We will be renting, looking for a 3 bedroom home to rent. Not sure if you comtact realtors for this?????
  • Info on area homeschool groups as we Homeschool our younger 2!
  • Some of the places we are looking .. Zeeland, Grandville, Rockford or Caledonia.
  • Looking for a Nondenominational Church that is Medium sized. Not really attracted to a Mega church!
  • What are the nice places to live in the city of GR? Streets to avoid living on? Streets that have school aged families? Not the college renter area
Thanks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of the places you mentioned I'd go Caledonia, off 131 the Byron Center exit and head east on 84th ave SE out to Hanna Lake Ave, take a left and there are a lot of nice newer Apts in that area, (Dutton is the name of the small town there). Churches there also. Access to M-6 is close by and 84th back to 131 will get you downtown quick. It gets worse when you get closer like 44th or 28th St and definetly stay away from S Division Ave.

You might get more responses in the Grand Rapids forum than here in the general Michigan forum.

Hi Tablefor4:
Wondering how your search went. We're a family of 7 looking to head that way from Atlanta. Hope you're settled in!

I would have noticed this posting in the Grand Rapids forum. Not sure if you are still seeking information.

If you are still looking for rentals, check out www.grar.com

Lots of good suburban schools in the GR area. There are some homeschoolers in the area.

Don't worry about churches, we have plenty of those too!

Do you have a job lined up? If so where will you be working?

Well Mich2fla, I'm choosing to go back to midwest values. I'm an airline pilot, so I have some flexibility...

It's fairly safe. A lot of the homes need work, from what I've seen. But if you find a rental that's in good shape, no worries.
